In the Legends Lesson Program we strive
to teach a total horsemanship program involving the theory as well as philosophy
of riding principles. We, in turn, produce effective, safe, and competent
horse people. The lesson program is divided
into six levels, starting with beginner Green through Advanced Intermediate
Blue. Each level will require the use of the Pony Club manuals appropriate for
those goals and objectives. Additionally, each level has supportive practice
activities included in your LEC binder.
Lesson Basics:

All riders are required to ride in proper attire
consisting of: SEI/ASTM approved helmet, breeches/jodhpurs, paddock
boots/tall boots, and gloves.

For new students to riding, the first (2)
sessions will be private lessons.

The first two lessons in their 1st session are
Orientation and Grooming/ Tacking.

The 1st session is entirely on the lunge line,
and part or all of the 2nd session.

New riders will continue in privates until they
show appropriate skills to ride with others.

We allot a certain time slot to
each individual and cannot fill that slot with another student in the event of
an absence. Each session has nine (9) scheduled lessons filled in for each
rider, and we will now have a set day and time each session for one make-up
lesson. This is for any student who misses a lesson due to vacation, sickness,
or otherwise. This will be the only make-up scheduled unless there are
instructor cancellations or horse health conditions where the horse cannot be
ridden.

In the event that a student owns a horse and cannot attend a particular
lesson, the instructor will ride the horse during the day of their lesson at no
additional cost. This allows the horse to remain on a training/workout schedule,
the instructor to know the horse better, and in turn helps the instructor
prepare a lesson plan to teach the student and horse.
